A cheap e-bike from Zündapp is on offer at Lidl on April 16th. We reveal who it is worth buying for.

If you are looking for a new e-bike, you will quickly end up in the price range of 2,000 to 3,000 euros and up. However, it can also be cheaper, as very inexpensive e-bikes are already available for under 1,000 euros – including at Lidl. The discounter is offering a trekking e-bike from Zündapp for just 899 euros as part of its daily offer on April 16th. It is available as a women’s and men’s model.
The bike comes with 28-inch tires, a lighting system, a wide saddle and a frame height of 48 centimeters. According to the manufacturer, it should be suitable for people with a height between 1.55 and 1.85 meters.
The Pedelec has a rear wheel motor, about which there is no more detailed information. The battery capacity is 374 watt hours – that should be enough for a range of between 30 and 110 kilometers. In addition to a simple suspension fork, there are rim brakes and a Shimano derailleur with 21 gears. The shift lever is a twist grip switch.
For short tours, such as shopping
The Zündapp e-bike offers very simple features. The battery is quite small and the motor is probably not powerful as there is no information about it. In addition, disc brakes would be a better choice on an e-bike; the many gears, together with the motor support, also ensure a lot of switching operations while driving.
In our opinion, the purchase is only worthwhile if you want the cheapest possible Pedelec that is suitable for short tours or just for shopping. However, if you are planning longer bike tours or even want to commute with an e-bike, you should choose a higher quality model.
