The German company Trelock has presented a bicycle lighting system capable of projecting information on the ground called Street Screen. Enough to provide various useful information to the cyclist as well as to other road users.

On the occasion of the Eurobike show, the German company Trelock, specialist in bicycle lighting and locks, presented a smart headlight technology. In addition to illuminating the road in front of the bike, this new kind of lighting is capable of projecting different pictograms to inform the cyclist and the users around him. A technology that is very similar to that presented by Ford a little earlier.

Thus, Trelock’s front light is able to project symbols onto the ground indicating that the road is wet or icy. The manufacturer also plans to display information related to the bike, especially if it is electric, for example the battery level or the distance traveled.

The visual warning can also be aimed at other road users. Trelock cites for example the possibility of indicating to a car that the overtaking conditions are not optimal. Functions such as the indication of direction changes are also on the menu. An intelligent system would also be planned in the long term. The latter would be able to very quickly detect certain incidents, such as the opening of the door of a parked vehicle, in order to warn the cyclist.

For the time being, Trelock’s Street Screen technology is only at the prototype stage and no market launch date has been announced. It will also be necessary for the device to pass the approval stages to be used on the road. Finally, if this lighting shows an interest in certain cases, its use during the day seems compromised as it would have to be powerful to remain visible in direct sunlight.
