Trend 2023: French women are relying on these 4 shoes this winter

At least twice a year our wardrobe, including our shoe cabinet, gets a fashionable makeover. Inspiration for the new season comes from both the international designers who present their creations on the runways around the world, but also from our beloved French women who make fashion hearts beat faster with their street style.

When it comes to the shoe trends for the coming autumn and winter season in particular, we didn’t look into a crystal ball, but rather into the shoe cupboards of our stylish neighbors. Et voilà: Here are four shoe trends that French women cannot do without in autumn and winter.

1st trend: loafers

Although loafers are not a classic winter shoe trend, they can now be seen everywhere in Paris, Nice and Co. Not surprising, after all, flat leather shoes are currently celebrating a big trend comeback and always look elegant whether paired with jeans or a little black dress. If you want something a little more stylish, opt for chunky loafers in winter, which come with thick platform soles. Black loafers with gold clips, on the other hand, look classic. Either way – so that you don’t freeze on cold days, you can combine loafers with socks or stockings in winter. It looks super casual and keeps your feet nice and warm.

2nd trend: Mary Janes

They are the perfect shoes for the transition: Mary Janes. The shoes in the form of ballerinas usually have a small, robust block heel and one or two straps. French women wear them with shorts and knitted sweaters on mild autumn days, and with tights, miniskirts or dresses on colder days. We also love the shoes – especially in the patent version, they represent a wonderful contrast to robust pieces made of wool or knit.

3rd trend: knee-high boots

Last season we couldn’t avoid knee-high boots – and this year we’re continuing to combine the trend pieces. The great thing about classic boots with block heels is that they give a simple outfit that extra something in no time. Try it out: Choose a simple dress – for example a blazer dress – combine it with knee-high boots and a crossbody bag. And you are prepared for all eventualities. Uncomplicated-chic, that’s how the French women love it too!

4th trend: Classic ballerinas

What has long been considered a characteristic fashion feature is being reactivated this season: ballerina flats. The classic shoe has actually made it back into the wardrobes of French women, as influencer Franny Fyne proves to us in style. She combines a white model in true ballerina style with a maxi skirt and a white hooded jacket in a shirt look.
