Good news for all retro fans: the fashion and beauty looks of the sixties are coming back! Curious? We can look forward to these five trends from the old days in spring and summer.

Floral dresses, crocheted bags and backcombed hair – the sixties were a rebellious time that left us with some fashionable and quite revolutionary highlights. As an answer to the well-behaved 50s, fashion rebelled against everything that was stuffy and old-fashioned. The motto: break (fashion) rules! Almost like today, right? Maybe that’s also the reason why designers from New York to Paris are back to the cult pieces from back then for spring and summer 2022. It’s official: the sixties are back in both fashion and beauty! So get ready for these five trend revivals.

1. Mary Jane’s

The 60s without Twiggy in playful strappy pumps? Inconceivably! The “Mary Jane’s” known from a cartoon character simply belong in the sixties – and now also in the year 2022. On the catwalks for the spring/summer collections, several well-known designers, including Christian Dior and Miu Miu, rely on Mary Jane shoes . The styling of the strappy patent leather shoes with white ruffled socks is particularly classic. But also sporty with a mini skirt and bra top like at Chanel, the pumps are among the trend shoes of the year.

2. Voluminous Updo

The beehive hairstyle still lives up to its name in 2022 and looks like a chic beehive on the catwalks of the Spring/Summer 2022 shows. The It hairstyle of the 1960s gets its grand entrance at Moschino, but in contrast to the past, it looks much softer. Instead of being strictly and super accurately styled upwards, the voluminous updo is put together a little more loosely in the current season. This makes the look more casual. Then the hairstyle looks anything but outdated.

3. Mini Skirt

Invented in 1962 by Brit Mary Quant and elevated to textile legend by Twiggy (yes, the woman was quite an icon of her time), the ultra-short skirt is also back. Today, of course, you don’t really shock anyone with a Mini, but that’s exactly why its short existence in spring and summer can really be celebrated. At the Dolce & Gabbana or Etro shows, a lot of legs were shown. The trendiest styling on the catwalk: a short mini at the bottom, a wide shirt at the top or an oversized blazer.

4. Crochet Crochet Dresses

Crochet, i.e. crochet fashion, is currently conquering the catwalks and all of Instagram! The trend creates sweet hippie feelings combined with a dose of free spirit and ethnic glamour. In the style of Jane Birkin, crochet dresses are combined with delicate underwear in spring and summer, which you are also welcome to see flashing through. Otherwise they are used with flat sandals as with Altuzarra.

5. Twisted Bangs

A short hairstyle from the Sixties is also celebrating its revival. The bottleneck bangs are making a comeback on the Valentino and Roberto Cavalli catwalks and are as fresh and sassy as ever 60 years after they first appeared on trend. Just like a bottleneck – hence the name “bottleneck” – the bangs in the cheek area fall further apart. The slightly shorter part in the middle of the fringe ensures that the hairstyle falls slightly inwards and does not lose its retro vibe.
