Trial of Rédoine Faïd: the verdict expected during the day for the former robber who played the emotion card

The trial of Rédoine Faïd comes to an end this Wednesday. The 51-year-old former robber, tried with 11 other people by the Paris Assize Court for his spectacular escape by helicopter from Réau prison in 2018, will receive his sentence at the end of the afternoon. Twenty-two years in prison were requested against him last week.

Last poker move for Rédoine Faïd. While the verdict in his trial is due this afternoon, the former robber made one last attempt to mollify the jurors and magistrates on Monday. For the master of manipulation, the 51-year-old man apologized to the pilot of the helicopter, which had been hijacked by his brothers to come and free him from Réau prison in 2018.

Arouse emotion

In the same box as his brother, accomplice, he also declared: “I never told you, but I love you”, all in front of the president of the court, silent, but with a suspicious look. To soften the jurors, to play the emotion card, this is the stratagem of the bald man with thick eyebrows.

Because the latter incurs a heavy penalty. Twenty-two years in prison were requested against Rédoine Faïd. For the defense, these requisitions are excessive. “It’s a murderer’s sentence,” argued the former robber’s lawyer. Since Monday evening, the magistrates and jurors have been deliberating in an undisclosed location, outside the courthouse, “due to the predictable length of the deliberations”. The verdict is expected late this afternoon.
