Triangle Strategy has sold 800,000 copies worldwide (distribution + digital sales)

Among the myriad of Square Enix games released recently, Triangle Strategy seems to be doing well with a title that has conquered the curious who want a new tactical JRPG on Switch in line with illustrious models. The figures given today go in any case in this direction.

The Asano strategy seems to be paying off

The official twitter account of Triangle Strategy announces that 800,000 copies have been sold worldwide (including 200,000 in Japan and Asia). However, we must qualify this figure a little bit since we are told that it is an addition of the games sold in physical version and those sold directly in dematerialized form.

To celebrate this good news, we are entitled to a wonderful illustration by Naoki Ikushima. As a reminder, the Tactical RPG is developed by the team of Tomoya Asano that we know mainly for Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. The least we can say is that this is a very honorable performance for a brand new license only available on Switch. It must be said that critics and players are full of praise for it. Qualities that we ourselves have detailed in our test of the title.

For comparison, the last title before this one, Bravely Default 2, sold 950,000 copies in 6 months on Switch alone before passing the 1 million mark shortly after the PC port. We therefore hope for a sequel in the same vein soon. That’s at least one nice win for Square Enix, which had a rather complicated month with the controversial economic system of Chocobo GP and the returns of Babylon’s Fall (we put aside Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin which is definitely unclassifiable).

Triangle Strategy is available on Nintendo Switch.
