Tribute to police officers killed in the North: Macron wants to send a message of support to state agents

A few days after the death of three police officers in a car accident in the north of France, Emmanuel Macron goes to Roubaix to pay them a last tribute. An important ceremony for the president, who wishes at the same time to send a message of support to all state agents, in the face of violence against them in recent months.

The coffins of Manon, Steven and Paul, the three police officers who died last Sunday in a road accident, will be lined up this Thursday in the courtyard of the Roubaix National Police School on the occasion of a national tribute. For the occasion, Emmanuel Macron with his wife Brigitte will travel to the North. The Head of State is expected in the morning in the region. The presidential couple will first meet the families and colleagues of the three victims.

Support state agents

The Head of State will then participate in the ceremony: review of the troops, minute of silence, Marseille … Then he will deliver a speech around 12:30 p.m., while cases of violence have multiplied in France in recent days. “The president wants to send a message of support to all state agents to remind them that they are the ones who bring the values ​​of the Republic to life”, underlines an adviser, citing the death of the three police officers but also the nurse killed in the CHU de Reims and the resignation of the mayor of Saint-Brévin after the fire in his home.

Emmanuel Macron yesterday called on his government to work in depth to counter what he described as a “decivilization process”, during the Council of Ministers. But “we must not put all cases in the same bag”, tempers those around him, stressing that in the eyes of the president, the violence is multifactorial and that it requires different responses.
