"Star Wars" actress and singer Trisha Noble is dead. According to a report, she died in January at the age of 76.

The Australian actress and singer Trisha Noble died at the age of 76, according to a report in the Daily Mail. According to this, she succumbed to the consequences of a so-called mesothelioma (diffusely growing tumor) on January 23, shortly before her 77th birthday on February 3.

From music to acting

Noble started her career in the 1960s as a singer and promptly made it to number one on the Australian charts. After that, however, she increasingly turned away from music and moved to the USA in the 1970s to try more and more acting. She played in 1975 among others in "Columbo", one year later she was part of the "Executive Suite" cast and from 1981 to 1982 she appeared in the series "Strike Force".

Noble made her film debut in 1966 in the Australian film "Death Is a Woman". But it was not until 2005 before she appeared briefly in a real blockbuster: In "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" she worked as Jobal Naberrie, mother of Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman, 39). From "Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clone Warriors" (2002), scenes with her as Jobal were subsequently cut out of the theatrical version. These were only included on the DVD version.
