Apparently the Duke of Kent alias Prince Edward is given the honor of accompanying his cousin Queen Elizabeth II to Trooping the Color.

On June 12, 2021, the previously failed birthday parade in honor of the Queen (95), also known as Trooping the Color, is to be rescheduled. The British Sunday newspaper “Mail on Sunday” now claims to have found out that Elizabeth II does not have to attend the ceremony alone. Rather, she will accompany her cousin Prince Edward (85) at the event at Windsor Castle.

This decision was certainly also made after pictures of the Queen, how she had to cope with the funeral of her husband Prince Philip (1921-2021) because of the corona regulations in Great Britain, went around the world. Prince Edward, aka the Duke of Kent, once accompanied his cousin to Trooping the Color. In 2013, when Prince Philip was recovering from surgery, he replaced the Prince Consort during the parade.
