Truck drivers wanted – the unemployed can now get a driver’s license for free

The transport industry is in full swing. But the economic engine is increasingly stuttering. The companies across the industry lack chauffeurs. “Hundreds of truck drivers are urgently needed all over Austria,” it says. A new initiative is counteracting the shortage in the districts of Güssing and Jennersdorf.

Across Austria, 1,065 companies have advertised vacancies for 1,402 workers. In Burgenland, 48 employees are in demand at 33 companies. “We are looking for truck drivers. If you include long-distance and professional drivers, there are 2,000 companies in the whole of Germany who want to fill a vacancy via the AMS, ”says the current situation in the industry.
