True Detective: season 4 starts strong on HBO and does better than The White Lotus


Series True Detective: Night Country is it already a success? While it’s still a little early to say, the brand new season 4 got off to a good start with the broadcast of its first episode. This brought together more than 2 million American viewers both on the HBO channel and on the Max streaming service.

Broadcast this Sunday, January 14 in the United States, opposite an expected poster of the American football championship, True Detective: Night Country managed to do better than season 2 of The White Lotuswhich had recorded 1.5 million spectators on all platforms in October 2022. This is, however, less than the second season ofEuphoriawhich attracted 2.4 million curious people when it was broadcast in January 2022.

In the game of comparisons, 4.7 million spectators were there for the first episode of The Last of UsWhen House of the Dragon had brought together nearly 10 million people in August 2022, setting a record for HBO.

This new season of the cult program created by Nic Pizzolatto in 2014 plunges detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kai Reis) into the heart of a series of macabre murders in the fictional town of Ennis in Alaska, caught in the middle of polar night. True Detective: Night Country is written and directed by Mexican Issa López (Todo Mal, Britannia).

Available in France on the Amazon Prime Video platform, via the Warner Pass, this season 4 is made up of six episodes broadcast weekly. The last episode is scheduled for February 19.
