Un American judge ordered, Thursday, August 25, the publication of a court document setting out the reasons for the recent search by the federal police (FBI) of the Florida home of former President Donald Trump, while accepting that the text be copiously redacted. The document, supposed to detail the reasons which led the Ministry of Justice to investigate and which could reveal the identity of certain actors in the case, must be made public by Friday at 6 p.m. French time, decided the federal judge Bruce Reinhart.
Most of these elements will probably remain secret, the judge having accepted the request of the Ministry of Justice, which argued a “compelling” need to redact important parts of the document in the interest of the investigations. On Monday, Bruce Reinhart had demanded that this account be at least partially published, citing the public interest in the search of the home of a former American president, without precedent. Authorities had opposed its release, saying it would require redacting “so extensive that the rest of the leaked text would be devoid of any significant content.”

On August 8, the FBI raided Donald Trump’s residence in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, seizing boxes of confidential documents that the Republican had not returned to the public authorities, despite multiple requests. Donald Trump, who flirts with the idea of a candidacy for the presidential election of 2024, does not have words strong enough to denounce this search, which he sees as the illustration of a “witch hunt” aiming at it. On Thursday, the tycoon again claimed his innocence on his Truth Social network, accusing “radical left-wing Democratic prosecutors” of “illegally raiding (his) home”. “They even broke into my safe, an unspeakable act! he was indignant.
