The son of US President Joe Biden is going on the offensive in the affair surrounding his leaked laptop: A lawsuit against the owner of the repair shop, who is a Trump supporter, is intended to stop the Republicans from exploiting Hunter Biden’s sex and drug videos spoil.
US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, has sued the owner of a computer repair shop over leaked data from his laptop. The 53-year-old accuses the man of violating his privacy in his lawsuit filed in a federal court in the US state of Delaware. Biden is seeking a civil trial and undisclosed damages.
The laptop made huge headlines in the final stretch of the 2020 presidential campaign between Democrat Joe Biden and Republican incumbent Donald Trump. The conservative tabloid “New York Post” reported a few weeks before the election that it had access to the laptop’s data. According to this, emails found there should show that Biden used the position of his father for business in Ukraine in 2015, who was responsible for his country’s Ukraine policy as US Vice President at the time. According to the “New York Post”, the data came from Trump’s private attorney at the time, Rudy Giuliani. In a TV duel with Biden before the election, Trump spoke of the “laptop from hell”.
The origin of the story goes back to April 2019: Hunter Biden is said to have given the laptop to a repair shop at the time, but then never picked it up. The owner of the shop, Trump supporter John Paul Mac Isaac, says he made copies of the data and passed them on to a lawyer by Giuliani, among others.
New legal strategy against Republicans
Hunter Biden now charges him with six counts of invasion of privacy, conspiracy to violate privacy and aiding and abetting in privacy violations. In his lawsuit, the president’s son Mac Isaac alleges, among other things, that he made photos available to others that showed him – Hunter Biden – “using drugs, without clothes and in intimate relationships with other adults”. The law graduate Biden was once active as a businessman and has been making art for several years. He is known to have suffered from drug problems in the past.
Conservative Republicans have been trying for some time to get President Biden into trouble by attacking his son. With their new majority in the House of Representatives, they have already initiated investigations into the President’s son’s previous business activities. Republicans accuse Hunter Biden of using his father’s important position during his time as vice president under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017 to do business in Ukraine and China.
Hunter Biden and the laptop are also regularly the subject of conspiracy theories. His lawsuit against the owner of the Delaware computer repair shop is part of a legal counteroffensive as part of a new strategy by his attorneys.
