Trump’s former economic advisor causes malice and head shaking in the United States. Larry Kudlow (73) railed on Trump’s house broadcaster Fox about the planned “Green New Deal” by US President Joe Biden (78).
Kudlow claimed that with his climate protection goals, Biden wanted to ban meat, fish, seafood, eggs and dairy products to Americans. The beer will also be different, namely “plant-based”.
For Independence Day he sketched a vegan one Horror scenario: «No more burgers on July 4th, no more steaks on the grill. Get ready: you can then hiss a plant-based beer, grill Brussels sprouts and wave the US flag. “
As a reminder: Beer has been made from hops and malt for 505 years, meat has no place in it. This is what the German purity law, which was written down at the time, provides.
Hate on Twitter
The statement that there should only be “plant-based beer” amused many observers of the scene. The Democratic US Senator Chuck Schumer (70) intervened on Twitter. He watched the Oscars with a “plant-based beer”, Schumer posted with a photo of himself. “Thank you, Joe Biden,” he added ironically.
The “New York Times” columnist Paul Krugman (68) was more serious. What Kudlow is doing here, he criticized, was aware of throwing smoke candles: “There are, of course, no meat bans in Biden’s plan.”
That is what the right wing is doing: “They are just false claims about evil liberals that one hopes will be believed, simply because it fits the narrative of liberal meanness.”
Biden is serious
Behind the skirmish are real plans from Biden. The US President has announced a turning point in climate protection. Last week he invited 40 heads of state and government to a virtual climate summit.
Biden intends to cut US CO2 emissions by at least half by 2030 compared to 2005 levels. A goal about twice as high as that of the Obama administration at the time. (gf)
