“Trying to crucify Novak”: Djokovic family provokes live on TV with Jesus comparison

“Trying to Crucify Novak”
Family Djokovic provokes live on TV with Jesus comparison

Novak Djokovic’s refused entry to Australia turns into a political farce. Serbia’s president senses a conspiracy, and the tennis star’s family is now betting one more thing. There is not even a lack of comparison with Jesus Christ.

The fact that Novak Djokovic was currently refused entry to Australia in Melbourne and that he is now stuck in the quarantine hotel is outrageous to his family. The Serb will have to wait until Monday to see whether he will actually be deported – or whether his lawyers can still prevent it. His family did not want to wait until Monday, they have already commented on the events before the Australian Open at a press conference in the “Novak” restaurant in Belgrade – it is owned by Djokovic. Above all, his father and brother gave it a lot and presented some daring theory and weird comparisons.

The family compared the tennis star to Jesus Christ. Tomorrow, Friday, the Orthodox Christmas will be celebrated in Serbia, Brother Djordje Djokovic provided a corresponding comparison: “Jesus was crucified on the cross … but he still lives among us. They are trying to crucify and belittle Novak and bring him to his knees . ”

For the family, the denied entry is a political scandal: “He was treated like a criminal, although he is a healthy and decent man and athlete who has not put anyone in danger or committed any crime,” said Djordje Djokovic. “It is scandalous”, judged mother Dijana Djokovic, it was “a purely political attack”.

Djokovic had been refused entry upon arrival at Melbourne Airport. According to the border authorities, the 34-year-old had applied for a visa that did not entitle him to entry – it was one that did not allow medical exemptions for unvaccinated people, according to “The Age” and the Sydney Morning Herald. Due to precisely that medical exemption from the compulsory vaccination, Djokovic had received his special permit for the Australian Open.

Brother Djordje Djokovic claimed: The visa with which Novak Djokovic was refused entry was “the same document” as had several tennis players “who are already in Australia”. However, according to the actions of the Australian border authorities, this cannot be true. The family thanked the Serbian authorities for trying to “free” Djokovic. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had also expressed angry about the events: “I fear that this relentless political persecution of Novak will continue until it can prove something,” he said: “Because if you can’t defeat someone, then take action one to such things. “

“Our Novak, our pride”

In addition, Djordje Djokovic spoke of the assessment as the “greatest sporting and diplomatic scandal” and, to a certain extent, called for special treatment for his brother: “The harassment can be described as a serious diplomatic offense, especially if it is directed against the greatest athlete of all time. ” The hotel in which the tennis star is accommodated also accommodates rejected asylum seekers. Djordje Djokovic had only bad words about this: “He was brought to a migrant hotel in a dirty room without any belongings that he was told would get back on his return to Europe.” His cell phone was also temporarily taken from him at the airport.

Father Srdjan was meanwhile pathetic: “Our Novak, our pride. Novak is Serbia and Serbia is Novak,” he said, “You are trampling Serbia, and with it you trample the Serbian people too.” According to him, it was the “leader of this distant land, Scott Morrison (Australia’s Prime Minister, editor’s note) dared to attack Novak and drive him away before he reached their land. They wanted to bring him to his knees, and not only him, but also our beautiful Serbia. “Morrison had defended the decision to expel Djokovic:” Rules are rules. “The fact that the tennis star was already infected with Corona was not enough the infection was more than six months ago, and the tournament organizers were also informed of this.

Djokovic’s mother Dijana spoke of her son as a “revolutionary who changed the world”. And went on to explain: “I hope they won’t clip his wings as they intended,” she said. “We will give him strength and energy with prayers and friendly messages so that he remains true to himself.” The 34-year-old is not only fighting for himself and Serbia, but is also leading “the struggle of seven billion people in the world for freedom of speech and expression,” said his father.

The decision will be made on Monday

The family also called on the public to support a rally in front of the Serbian parliament. Djokovic is being held in the hotel until at least Monday. Only then will a judge in Melbourne decide whether he will be deported. Djokovic’s lawyers had appealed against the expulsion. For months it had been puzzled whether the world number one could take part in the Australian Open, because he is considered a vaccine skeptic and left everyone in the dark about his vaccination status. The tournament organizers, however, demanded the status as vaccinated or convalescent, which is necessary in Australia.

On January 3, Djokovic announced his participation with the aid of a special permit. At the moment he is apparently in a quandary: He has a license to play the Australian Open, but is not allowed to enter the country. Numerous supporters have gathered in front of his quarantine hotel and protest for the Serb.
