Turbulence aboard Qatar Airways flight to Dublin, 12 injured


May 26 (Reuters) – Twelve people traveling on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin were injured when the plane encountered turbulence, Dublin Airport said on Sunday.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner operating flight QR017 landed shortly before 1:00 p.m. local time in Dublin.

Six passengers and six crew members were injured as the plane passed through a zone of turbulence above Turkey, the Irish capital’s airport said in a press release.

According to passengers cited by Irish television channel RTE, the incident which lasted less than 20 seconds occurred during the food and drink service.

Qatar Airways did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

The incident occurred five days after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore was forced to land in Bangkok due to severe turbulence which left 73-year-old Briton dead and 20 others hospitalized people.
