The preparations for the European Championships in England started for the women’s national team on Tuesday. Coach Nils Nielsen wants to be ready after 3 phases.

On June 21, national coach Nils Nielsen wants to nominate the 23 players who will represent Switzerland at the European Championships in England (July 6 to 31). Some players still have to tremble: 25 players were invited for the first phase, of which Bernauer, Da Eira, Herzog, Hurni, Julini, Mégroz, Piubel, Riesen and Stapelfeldt are on the brink.

Of these 9 players, only 2-3 will receive an invite to Stage 2. “If you’re a competitive person, you’re always ready for a little pressure,” says Nielsen.

With the definitive squad, the women’s Nati denies 2 friendlies. Indicators await with Germany and England, on paper the third and sixth best national teams. At the European Championship itself it will be even more difficult for the Swiss: With Sweden, the Netherlands and Portugal, the numbers 1, 4 and 18 in Europe are known to be waiting. Switzerland ranks 11th among the European teams.
