the firmware V37 been talking about him for a few days because he has settled in all discretion with many of us, but – as always – not with everyone. VSThe new firmware does not officially bring much new: the version number which changed from V35 to V37 in “Settings > About” (hey yes, no V36), the moving and renaming of the “Raise the view” option which left the “Experimental” tab to become “Adjust size” in the “Accessibility” tab, full resizing of 2D application windows (browser and other such programs) and keyboard detection Apple Magic (the small model, the one without the numeric keypad). Really look no further, to date it would be like trying to find water in the Gobi Desert. Admittedly, the other features announced will arrive in a few days, even weeks, but, for those who are in developer mode, it is still possible to discover some hidden functions via command lines that we explained to you here and that we showed you during of our dedicated live on our channel Youtube.
As a reminder, to update your headset, plan to have patience to spare, because the solution recommended by Oculus is to put the Quest 2 on standby, connect it to its charger and… wait. As much to tell you right away, it sometimes takes several days, even weeks, for your baby to receive the latest firmware. Still, this time it won’t work because it’s not a logical malfunction of the update rollout, but since this build is actually a public beta, it only installed in people with access on the program of Public Testring Channel.
Let’s see how to activate this option:
I – How to activate the Public Testing Channel? (App version 1.45.0.0.3.119)
- Open your app Oculus (smartphone)
- Click on Menu (1)
- Click on Equipment (blue icon) (2)
- Connect to your Oculus Quest 2 (3 – 4)
- Go to advanced settings (5)
- Activate the option Public Testing Channel (6 – 7 – 8)
- V37 should install directly (you will have to reboot the helmet)
- If not, go to Settings > About and click on Check for an update (it will be necessary to reboot the helmet).
II – How to activate the Public Testing Channel? (other app versions)
- Open your Oculus app (smartphone)
- Click on Hardware (bottom) (1)
- Connect to your Oculus Quest 2 (2)
- Go to Advanced Settings (3)
- Activate the Public Testing Channel option (4 – 5 – 6)
- V37 should install directly (you will have to reboot the helmet)
- If this is not the case, go to Settings > About and click on Update (you will need to reboot the headset).
From then on, your headset should automatically receive all beta updates. However, take a tour regularly, on the helmet side, in the menu Settings > About > Check for updates won’t hurt to be sure you have the latest revision of your installed firmware. For major updates, such as a possible future V38, for example, you will have to follow the procedure indicated above and be patient.
Note: some encounter a message explaining that the program is full. You have to wait or uninstall and reinstall the application to unblock the situation.
