There’s more choking and fighting in the jungle. Nevertheless, the second episode lost a number of viewers because the European Handball Championship was running at the same time.

The German national handball team’s game on Saturday evening again gave the first good ratings. 7.7 million viewers saw the match against Austria, which was exciting until the last minute. The second episode of the jungle camp, which was running at the same time, was left behind. Compared to the opening episode on Friday evening, one million viewers were lost. Nevertheless, the show remained above the network average.

While the handball players had to settle for a draw, the first team was able to record a clear victory yesterday. As “DWDL” reported, the reach among 14 to 49-year-olds was “a great 2.19 million,” meaning that handball topped the reach list among all viewers and the advertising-relevant group “by far.” Overall, the market share was 27.1 percent and even 32.8 percent among 14 to 49 year olds.

RTL satisfied with ratings in view of strong competition

On the other hand, “I’m a star – get me out of here!” give up on the second day. The total reach fell by one million to 3.71 million viewers. Of these, 1.5 million were classically relevant to advertising; the market share among 14 to 49 year olds was 22.9 percent. RTL nevertheless said in a press release that the jungle was able to “delight” viewers with the second episode “despite strong competition”. The third episode runs on Sunday evening from 8:15 p.m. on RTL and in the stream on RTL+.
