TV rights: Bundesliga runs exclusively on Sky and DAZN

It seems fixed: According to corresponding media reports, the pay TV channel Sky and the streaming service DAZN share the broadcasting rights of the Bundesliga for the seasons 2021/2022 to 2024/2025. As reported by "Bild am Sonntag", Sky broadcasts 200 games exclusively, including all Saturday parties and the conference. DAZN, on the other hand, is said to show 106 Friday and Sunday games.

Amazon is surprisingly out of the race. The company currently holds the rights to seven Bundesliga games and was considered a major competitor. In the second division, all games, except for the newly introduced Saturday evening game, are to be shown on Sky. How much money the parties have to put on the table for the licenses at the German Football League is not yet known.

Most recently, around 1.16 billion euros were due per season, which are divided between the teams of the 1st and 2nd league. A major increase is not expected due to the Corona crisis. For the football fan, this means that he is likely to get through the season with two subscriptions: Sky and DAZN. On free TV, the sports show should continue to keep the secondary exploitation rights for classic 6:00 p.m. reporting in the first place.
