TV rights: Formula 1 will only run on Sky from 2021

Now it's fixed: Only four Formula 1 races can be seen on free TV from the coming season. Sky secured the rights after the RTL shutdown.

Now the cat is out of the bag: After the somewhat surprising end of the private broadcaster RTL in the court for the TV rights of Formula 1, the pay broadcaster Sky has now secured the exclusive broadcast rights for the premier class in racing for the years 2021 and 2022. Four races each Season will, however, be broadcast unencrypted and accessible to everyone.

In addition, the broadcaster announced that "Sky Sport F1" would even launch its own channel, which is broadcast 24 hours a day in motorsport. The live broadcasts of the race weekends including free practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the actual race on Sunday will also be shown. Ex-Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher (44) is said to continue to be an expert in front of the camera.
