The French Football Federation (FFF) has decided to postpone the date for awarding television rights for next year to May 12. These TV rights concern the matches of the French women’s team, the Champions Trophy and the women’s D1 championship. The FFF did not communicate on the reason for this postponement.
The French Football Federation (FFF), in search of broadcasters for the France team and the women’s D1 from next season, has postponed the date for the submission of offers by the interested channels to May 12, a-t- she announced Wednesday. Initially set for May 4, this date has been delayed by eight days and offers from broadcasters are expected “Friday May 12, 2023 between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.”, explains the FFF in a press release, without detailing the reasons for this postponement.
In mid-April, the body had announced the launch of these calls for tenders in parallel with several other measures for the development of women’s practice, with in particular the creation of a Professional League by 2024. The FFF is looking for broadcasters both for the matches of the French women’s team between 2023 and 2027 (one lot), for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions of the Champions Trophies (one lot) and for the women’s D1 championship.
Three different batches
The D1 matches between 2023 and 2027 are divided into three different lots, including one relating to the play-offs, a final phase introduced from next season. Until now, the Canal group broadcast D1, but its contract ends at the end of the season. For the France team, the M6 group held the rights until the February 2023 rally, but Les Bleues currently no longer has a broadcaster, less than three months from the Women’s World Cup (July 20 – August 20), which makes the subject of an independent market consultation led by FIFA.
