In the 13th century BC BC Pharaoh Sethos I (John Turturro) had all Israelites enslaved in Egypt and their male descendants drowned in the Nile. Only one boy survives – Moses (Christian Bale). He grew up with the Crown Prince Ramses (Joel Edgerton) in the palace. When he learns that Moses is actually an Israelite and not an Egyptian prince, he exiles him. Contrary to expectations, Moses survives the flight into the desert, he even finds a new home in an oasis. But then he receives the order from God to free the Hebrews from the Egyptian bondage.

After the sudden cardiac arrest of her eight-year-old daughter Jana, Micha (Christoph Bach) and Natalie (Alwara Höfels) face a moral dilemma. Jana survived, but now she needs a donor heart. And the statistical eight months on the organ donation waiting list quickly turns into a whole year. With each additional day on which Jana is connected to a heart machine, her chances of survival decrease. A situation that can hardly be endured, especially for Micha. Could illegally buying a heart be a way out?

The case of the murdered farmer Monika Bender leads chief prosecutor Bernd Reuther (Rainer Hunold) and his chief commissioners Kerstin Klar (Fiona Coors) and Christian Schubert (Simon Eckert) to a village in the Taunus. The family of the dead has suffered a number of strokes of fate – a neighbor is convinced that the Bender family is cursed. Reuther, on the other hand, starts looking for facts and evidence to finally find the perpetrator.
