The mountain farmer Leonhard (Tom Beck), who lives alone, is sitting on a vein of gold without realizing it: an underground spring supplies his alpine pasture with unique healing water. Leonhard is not like that with business matters. When he falls in love with Beate (Anna Drexler), who like him has remained at the mental level of a child, he knows: She is the right one! The fact that Beate is pregnant after the first night of love accelerates events in Leonhard's favor. Beates parents Hanna (Annette Frier) and Christian Spengler (Martin Brambach) fear, however, that their child daughter might not be up to the responsibility.

When the press got wind of the "tax evaders CD", the tax office received the first voluntary disclosure. The real estate entrepreneur Ehrenberg wants to clear the table. But before he can do that, Ehrenberg is dead. Wilsberg and Ekki do not believe in suicide.

Claire (Julia Roberts) and Ray (Clive Owen) are spies and work in the industry for two large corporations, each run by two very idiosyncratic gentlemen: Howard Tully (Tom Wilkinson) and Dick Garsik (Paul Giamatti). Ray is part of Garsik's espionage department, which suspects the other side will soon be launching a revolutionary product. Claire, in turn, appears to be working as a mole for Garsik in Tully's espionage department. Claire and Ray stalk each other.
