Between a budget cut decided at the last minute, floods on the set causing 7 million dollars in losses, and the tensions that opposed director Stephen Norrington to his main actor Sean Connery, as much to say that The League of Extraordinary Gentlemena free adaptation of the eponymous comic book by Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill, started off on the wrong foot.

To say that Sean Connery – also executive producer of the feature film – only agreed to play the aging adventurer Allan Quatermain because he was afraid of missing out on another hit after refusing the role of Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and saying no to the Matrix… In the finale, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a bitter failure – at least with the critics – which was right for his career.
