After a series of thrilling votes on twitter to find out which city in France would host the first Popcorn Festival, it was the village of Montcuq that finally stood out. But one could still wonder if Domingo was going to succeed in a new tour de force, by attracting as many public as expected in this Occitan commune.
It only took the streamer 8 minutes to answer this question, once the online ticket office opened. 8 minutes, because that’s the time it took for the festival to be sold out.
Popcorn, but big
Domingo saw things big for his first out-of-studio show with an audience. On July 2, in addition to the usual talk show, there will be a real music festival, with artists like PLK, Asdek or The Toxic Avenger. All with the backing of influencers (PV Nova, Zerator, LittleBigWhale…).
In all, 4000 people are expected on D-Day. And we are talking about real festival-goers, because an entire site is dedicated to the stage, while another will be for camping, allowing the public to be accommodated.
The Montcuq effect
View event display sold out in just 8 minutes is all the more surprising since the municipality of Montcuq was chosen by most voters only for its name, subject to many puns. By beating in the ballot other contending cities such as Rennes, La Rochelle or Lyon, Montcuq has, so to speak, created a surprise.
On Twitter, there are many who believe that the course of the festival in Montcuq will limit the viewership of the show (whether online or on site). However, one can wonder if the practicability of such an outdoor festival would not be facilitated by the choice of Montcuq, which is more rural but also more suitable for camping! It doesn’t matter in the end, since Domingo has not deflated, and the public will be present this summer.
