Investing.com – Twitter (NYSE:) has had the tipping feature for some time now, and it has proven to be very effective so far. The was the only cryptocurrency option to tip this feature, but that is changing.
This week, Twitter introduced as a new payment method. Users will be able to tip their favorite content creators in multiple cryptocurrencies.
Twitter adds Ethereum
The tipping feature originally included well-known payment methods like Venmo and GoFundMe. Bitcoin, a longtime favorite of ex-CEO Jack Dorsey, was the only cryptocurrency to make the list.
On Wednesday, the social media platform announced that it was adding more payment options to the feature. This included the Barter app from Flutterwave, Paga, Paytm, and the option to add an Ethereum address.
The latest addition is part of Twitter’s move to expand payment options for its features. “We continue to expand ways to get paid on Twitter, which includes more choices for creators and fans who want to use crypto,” said Johnny Winston, Twitter’s Senior Product Manager for Creator Monetization.
Although users can add Ethereum addresses to their profile, the social media giant revealed that Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain names are not supported. However, users can tip their favorite accounts with ERC-20 tokens alongside ETH.
Twitter opens the door to NFTs
Twitter also recently added a new feature for paid subscribers “Twitter Blue”. It would allow users to authenticate non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the app. It also allows users to add NFTs as profile pictures.
This feature is currently only available on iOS devices. Support for Android is expected to arrive at some point, but there’s no specific timeline for when Android users will get this feature.
