Twitter Blue, the premium platform of the social network, has just implemented a new feature to allow its users to show their non-fungible token (NFT) on their profile picture. This feature is currently only available to Twitter Blue subscribers on iOS, but Twitter told ZDNet that Android and web will follow as the company continues to develop this feature.

First concerns about functionality?
Currently supported crypto wallets are Silver, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger Live, MetaMask, Rainbow, and Trust Wallet. Twitter noted that it only supports static JPEG and PNG NFTs minted on the Ethereum blockchain, for example, ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens. According to Twitter, once the account containing the NFT goes live, other Twitter users will be able to click on the profile pictures of the NFTs to see information about the artist, their collection, their provenance, and whether a project or collection has been verified by OpenSea or another third-party marketplace.

Outage on a major NFT marketplace

Several people reported that Twitter uses OpenSea’s API to load NFTs and that due to the outage, Twitter’s NFT function was down.
But when ZDNet asked if Twitter had been affected by the outage, the social network replied in the negative. An OpenSea spokesperson said the outage occurred at 6:05 a.m. PT and by 8:30 a.m. PT the outage was resolved. But their own status update page shows the outage lasted much longer, with programmatic API access fully restored around 3:30 p.m. PT.
The outage comes a week after OpenSea patched critical security issues that allowed attackers to steal funds from cryptocurrency wallets on its NFT marketplace.
