The arrival of Elon Musk at the head of Twitter caused an unprecedented earthquake within the social network. The billionaire has laid off a good number of employees, so much so that many believe the last days of the platform have arrived. This causes new problems, such as the bankruptcy of the automatic copyright protection system.

This weekend, many users were able to see the bankruptcy of Twitter by posting entire movies on the network. Fast and Furious, Avatar, Hackers or Need for Speed could be viewed for free by users.

Many films published illegally on Twitter

On the network, it is impossible to post a two-hour video. Users then found a trick: cut the films into two-minute videos. By putting them end to end (what is called a thread), this makes it possible to have a feature film in its entirety. Of course, no one takes pleasure in watching a film under these conditions. The goal is not to entertain, but to to show how fragile Twitter seems lately.

The fact is that the copyright protection system is managed automatically by Twitter. With the departures in shambles at the end of last week, the platform seems to be managed in “zombie mode”, revealing more and more gaping flaws.

At the time of writing these lines, all offending tweets have been deleted. However, these movies stayed online for quite a long time (more than 24 hours), indicating some system instability. If Friday caused panic among users who saw the end of the social network, Musk does not intend to let his $44 billion baby sink. Strong decisions were made over the weekend, such as restoring the accounts of Donald Trump or Kanye West, both banned for life. But the future remains for the moment very nebulous for the blue bird.
