Is Twitter collapsing from within? In recent days, testimonials from employees unhappy with working conditions have multiplied. Eloquent reviews even point to a toxic corporate culture since Elon Musk took over as head of the network.
Rise in reviews since takeover
Testimonials recently published on the professional microblogging network Blind have been pouring in since the beginning of December. The American platform allows you to rate your company anonymously. To ensure that criticism does not emanate from the first comer, Blind requests the professional email address, job title and name of the employer from users of its service.
The recent reviews published on the platform, relayed by our colleagues from Business Insiderreport a marked deterioration in the working atmosphere within the teams since the end of October, a period during which Elon Musk became the new boss of the Tweep (nickname of Twitter employees).
“Extreme hours“
Twitter employees denounce a toxic Twitter 2.0 and recommend that new recruits move on. According to several recent testimonies, the remuneration within the company would not be “more transparent” since the arrival of Elon Musk. Once upon a time, Twitter was a “extraordinary society” with a “welcoming culture“, assures a staff member. But today, few comments encourage working within the blue bird network. “Do not come here if you value well-being at work“, assures a collaborator.
Some employees also denounce “cutthroat culture” and the “leadership that just licks the boots (sic) of EM [Elon Musk, NDLR].” This Sunday, December 11, another testimony evokes the lack of balance between “professional life and private life.“In the same vein, a Tweep said to be”overworked with extreme schedules, always in PIP [plan d’amélioration des performances] and threatened with being fired, supervised by underqualified engineers.”
Asked by Business Insider about these multiple criticisms, Twitter did not provide any response.
Musk, tyrannical or demanding?
Elon Musk has always been known for his extreme work demands. From Tesla to Neuralink, the companies managed by the American billionaire are experiencing particularly high turnover. By buying Twitter, Musk has therefore not changed his methods. Evidenced by the scathing email sent by the new boss to the employees of the platform shortly after his arrival.
