The “For you” that annoys

For the past few days, Twitter users have been able to discover a new display for their timeline. On Android, iOS and the web version of the social network, the reception now offers two tabs, with “For you” on one side and “Subscription” on the other.

The first is based on an algorithm that displays a mix of publications from the user’s subscriptions, with tweets that would also be likely to interest him. The second is 100% focused on publications from subscriptions. Obviously, and to the chagrin of users, it is the most disputed, namely the first, which is configured by default.

Worse still, when the application is closed, the latter does not retain the user’s choice and will systematically display the “For you” tab on restart. This was not the case previously, with the old sparkling star icon located in the upper right corner of the timeline. What generate a lot of frustration among users…

Fortunately, Twitter seems to have quickly realized the inconvenience caused and has just announced the deployment of a new update. Thus, from today regarding the web version, Twitter will automatically restart on the last tab chosen by the user. The “For you” mode does not disappear, but it will no longer be activated by default. This change is coming soon to iOS and Android.

On the user side, if the news is received positively, many are asking Twitter to revise the display, offering the possibility of deactivating the option “ For you », or even by placing the two options under a single button… as was the case until now.
