(Reuters) – Twitter has removed a feature that highlighted the phone numbers of organizations specializing in, among other things, suicide prevention, said two people familiar with the matter, who said the decision had been made. by Elon Musk, the new owner of the social network.

The feature, called “#ThereIsHelp”, displayed contacts of organizations that can help people researching mental health, HIV, vaccines, sexual exploitation of minors, COVID-19, gender-based violence , natural disasters or freedom of expression.

The removal of this function, which came in recent days, could heighten fears about the well-being of vulnerable users of the social network.

Neither Twitter nor Elon Musk responded to a request for comment.
