For the past few days, Twitter has allowed subscribers with a certification… to hide it.
An optional certification therefore, which allows whoever wishes to make their paying subscriber status less visible.
Twitter certification is getting talked about again
Since the beginning of the year in France, Twitter (now X.com) allows anyone who wants to afford the valuable certification, by subscribing to the Blue offer. If the subscription offers a range of more or less useful features, it also allows you to benefit from the blue tick for the first time, or to continue to display it for all those who were certified through the old system.
And if the American group particularly highlights the possibility of obtaining the certification check mark via the Blue subscription, a recent update allows anyone who wants to hide this same certification. So yes, but why?…
Buy the certification, and then… hide it?
Indeed, it is difficult at first sight to really understand why a user would opt for a Blue subscription, only to deactivate the certification check mark. In reality, this allows you to benefit from the various functions linked to Blue (edit a message, possibility of posting longer messages, uploading videos in HD, etc.), without displaying the fact that you are a Blue subscriber.
Clearly, this allows the user not to display his paid subscriber status to his subscribers, and thus avoid certain remarks. Of course, this does not prevent these same users from claiming monetization for content creators, which notably requires being a Blue subscriber and displaying more than 15 million impressions over the last three months.
You better understand why some users have been reacting to just about everything and (especially) anything for a few weeks to inflate their statistics…
The certification tick is therefore now optional for subscribers to the Blue offer. Note that the network has recently changed the way of displaying the details of a certification, by simply indicating the date on which it was initially verified by the system.
