Donald Trump will soon no longer be able to tweet via the official account of the US President. The account will be handed over to Joe Biden.
The inauguration of Joe Biden (78, "Promise me") as the 46th US President is expected to take place on January 20, 2021. Regardless of whether his predecessor Donald Trump (74) continues to stand up, it is at least once certain that the US President's official Twitter account, "@Potus", will be handed over to his successor on this day. A spokesman for the short message service confirmed this at the request of the newspaper "Politico".
Profile will be reset beforehand
Twitter is already preparing for the handover to Biden, according to a statement. For this purpose, no information has to be exchanged between the teams of the upcoming US president and Trump. The 78-year-old also doesn't have to take on any legacy issues. All tweets published by his predecessor up to this point should be archived. The profile will then be reset to zero tweets and access will be given to Biden.
Trump is notorious for his love for the platform – and for putting pretty much anything on his mind into the Twitter sphere. Without sufficient evidence, among other things, he repeatedly claimed in the past few weeks on his private accountthat Biden only "won the US election in the eyes of the fake news media" and that the presidential election was allegedly "manipulated" to his disadvantage. Some time ago, Twitter began to mark contributions from Trump, in which he made allegations, as possibly misleading.
