To prevent this, and to avoid having to give its moderation teams the means to accomplish their mission, Twitter will soon be launching “Circles”. A feature that will only allow a small number of subscribers to read our messages.
Limit your tweets to close friends
To date, it is already possible to reduce the reach of his tweets to some extent. When composing a message, an option allows you to select who can reply to it (everyone, the people you follow, or only the people mentioned).
Quite similar to the “Close Friends” feature introduced on Instagram, Twitter’s “Circles” will allow you to define a group of users (up to 150 people) who, when selected, will be the only ones who can read tweets. concerned.
This new option is therefore added to the possibility of making your account “Private”, which automatically reduces the scope of your tweets to people who follow us. But, this also concerns people who would have followed us before activating the option. In this sense, the “Circles” will ensure better control of their audience by Twitter users.
How do I use Twitter Circles?
Currently rolling out after a month-long trial, Circles will be available on the web and mobile version of Twitter.
If you are one of the affected, a pop-up will notify you of the availability of the feature as soon as you open the application. To activate it, it is then very simple:
- Press “Get Started” on the pop-up
- Compose a new tweet
- Tap on “Twitter circle”, then “Edit”
- Add people recommended by Twitter, or use the search bar to manually add accounts to your circle
- Send your tweet normally, and notice that a small green banner indicates that “ only members of your Twitter circle can see this tweet “.
The Circles represent the third major innovation introduced by Twitter since the beginning of the year, after the arrival of votes on tweets and spaces reserved for “Super Followers”.
