Some Twitter users are unable to connect to the social network this Tuesday, April 23, 2024. A peak in reports was recorded on the Downdetector site.
At 3:43 p.m. on April 23, 775 French people reported a Twitter (X) outage on the Downdetector site. Same phenomenon in the United States, with just over 3,000 reports in 20 minutes. Elon Musk’s social network seems to be the victim of a partial outage, since some people seem to be able to access the site, while others are deprived of it.
By going to x.com, the news feed is replaced by the words “Welcome to X”. This is not the first time that the platform has encountered a similar problem.
A global Twitter outage? Or local?
What is the extent of this outage? Difficult to say, when a VPN sometimes seems to be enough to reestablish the connection. From a French network, the connection to Twitter seems to have been blocked since 3:30 p.m. on April 23.
After being deprived of Twitter between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., Numerama managed to connect to it around 4:05 p.m., still with interface bugs. The outage appears to be being resolved, although its extent cannot be estimated.
