Twitter has just announced that it will now be possible for some users to upload up to 2 hours of videos!

Twitter continues to change under Elon Musk and new CEO Linda Yaccarino. The social network thus seems set to compete with streaming platforms, with a new feature put in place today.

2 hours, yes, 2 hours!

What if Twitter became the new YouTube? A ridiculous hypothesis at first sight, but which nevertheless can be based on a tangible element: the possibility of uploading increasingly long videos. Because the blue bird has already allowed since last December to post one-hour videos.

A limit that is already obsolete, with a new announcement signed Elon Musk. The billionaire, owner of the walls, has just indicated on his account that the platform would now be able to accommodate videos of 2 hours and weighing a maximum of 8 gigabytes. An exclusivity once again reserved for Twitter Blue subscribers, the rest of the crowd still being confined to the limit of 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

The future pirate paradise?

An interesting decision, especially if, in the future, these same videos become monetizable. But, of course, it could also easily turn sour. We remember that the new tolerance of 60 minutes of videos had allowed pirates to put the film online Super Mario Bros.. And this memory is still in many memories, since the announcement of Elon Musk was followed by the upload of Shrek 3 by a user.

As can be seen above, the tweeter didn’t really try to hide his offence, his video having been sent in direct response to Elon Musk’s message. A way to prove the potential dangerousness of the measure? If so, the Internet user could have touched a sensitive point, because the third film in the franchise Shrek was able to stay online for at least an hour and a half before it was finally deleted.
