This Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Météo France alerts residents of two departments in the South of France placed on orange alert due to a Mediterranean or Cévennes episode. Strong winds and significant thunderstorms are expected in Gard and Hérault.

Result : This Tuesday, October 17, 2023, several departments in the south of France are the subject of an orange vigilance alert issued by Météo France. From this evening, the inhabitants of the departments of Hérault and Gard must therefore take precautions as the formation of a Cévennes or Mediterranean episode is expected in this part of the Rhône region. The two departments in question are thus the subject of a rain and flood alert implemented by Météo France.

The Cévennes and Languedoc are experiencing an episode of lasting and abundant rain. “The accumulations over 24 hours could locally reach around 120 to 150 millimeters in the Cévennes, or even more. And the episode should continue the following night (from Wednesday to Thursday) shifting slightly towards the east of the Cévennes (Ardèche department in particular)”, we can read on the Météo France website.
