Determined to revolutionize the passage to the emergency room, two Norman doctors are launching an innovative application, FollowMe, designed to improve the patient experience and relieve hospital staff. Many establishments are already interested, and not only in France!

This is the story of two Norman emergency doctors who created an application, FollowMe, to facilitate the monitoring of patients in the emergency room and provide more information to patients and their loved ones. The app, which should be deployed at the start of the year, allows patients to follow each step of their care and reduce interruptions from doctors, thus improving the efficiency of care. With French and foreign hospitals already interested, FollowMe is a tool that seems promising for the future of medical emergencies.

An app that wants to give doctors more time, to improve deadlines and reduce the risk of medical errors

Waiting times in emergency rooms have long been a source of frustration for patients, with the lack of staff in certain French departments pushing some services to close their doors altogether. Despite the excellence of the care provided, the lack of information is also a source of tension between professionals and individuals. Doctors Firas Abou Kassem (from the Granville-Avranches hospital) and Ricardo Oliveira (from the Alençon establishment), have clearly identified these problems and offer us a response, with FollowMe, to compensate for these shortcomings. But how does it work?

Upon arrival at the emergency room, patients receive an SMS link to the FollowMe WebApp, which they can share with their family. The application, which does not require a download, guides the patient through each stage of their care, in real time, displaying information such as test result deadlines. The tool is a guarantee of transparency intended to strengthen medical monitoring and reassure loved ones, thus reducing requests for information from doctors.

Professionals point out that an emergency doctor is today interrupted every 7 minutes and thirty seconds for organizational issues. Obviously, this affects waiting times. So by reducing these interruptions thanks to FollowMe, caregivers will be able to devote more time to real medical questions, also reducing the risk of medical errors.

The doctors have put on their entrepreneurial costume, and are seducing even abroad

The two colleagues had hollow noses. After doing some research, they realized that they were alone in this “market”. They are also competing, with their application, for the Digital Ethics in Health Prize, as part of the national e-health Talents competition, the votes for which end this Friday, January 12.

Determined to make FollowMe a success, the emergency doctors launched their start-up, MyCareProcess, in 2022, and today benefit from the support of Normandie incubation, as well as that of the Normandy Region and BPI France.

The application will be tested for two years in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis), then another year in a Norman hospital. Already adopted by around fifteen establishments, FollowMe’s recognition even extends beyond borders, with Belgian and Luxembourg hospitals now very interested. And this is clearly not a coincidence.
