two highly anticipated new films are finally dated

Notice to sci-fi fans: a phenomenon saga is returning very soon to Netflix, we finally have the date! However, will the public be there?

Netflix is increasingly focusing on productions that want to compete with blockbusters on the big screen. We have seen projects multiply, competing in special effects or high-end casting. Recently, a new saga emerged on the platform, offering the services of a renowned director. This one will return soon for two new films which finally find a release window. Get ready, summer is going to be busy.

Two Netflix boxes soon to be revisited

It’s science fiction fans who will be happy! The phenomenon saga Rebel Moon returns soon with what their director does best: the Director’s Cut. Fact, Zack Snyderto whom we notably owe the re-release of Justice League in long version, has been working on a re-editing of the two opuses available on Netflix.

Thus, we learn via Discussing Film that the duo of films will be released at the same time, the August 2, 2024 on the SVOD platform. For the occasion, everyone will be renamed. We will therefore find Rebel Moon Chapter 1: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon Chapter 2: Curse of Forgiveness, in less than two months.

However, it is good to remember that despite the audience success… the two opuses are (very) far from having won over the public. This does not prevent Netflix from seeing the long term with this franchise born from the mind of the director himself and Kurt Johnstad, screenwriter. The fate given to these rereadings could therefore be decisive for possible sequels.

Re-releasing Rebel Moon in the form of a Director’s Cut is an opportunity to dive deeper into the universe of the Mother World. Certainly, these new versions will be richer in content, but will they be more convincing? Zack Snyder should explore the themes of the first films in more detail and bring more nuance to the remarks. See you in August on Netflix to see if the public will be there again this time.
