Two separate films for Pirates of the Caribbean
Bruckheimer clarified that these were two separate projects. The first is a reboot he is working on with screenwriter Jeff Nathanson, known for his work on Young Woman and the Sea. The second film is that of Margot Robbie, with a screenplay written by Christina Hodson, who notably worked on Birds of Prey. “We hope to be able to make both films, and I think Disney is also very interested in the film with Margot,” Bruckheimer said.
In 2022, Margot Robbie expressed doubts about making her film, explaining that Disney seemed hesitant at the time. She had shared that the proposed film would offer a different perspective, with more pronounced female leadership, while maintaining the franchise’s spirit of adventure. He revealed that the third act of the script is already “incredible” and that the first two acts still need to be refined.
