Two injured – paragliding tandem flight in Gerlos ended in an accident

A paragliding tandem flight in the Zillertal had a very rough outcome on Saturday afternoon. The pilot and passenger were injured. An emergency doctor’s helicopter was also in use.

Around 1.30 p.m., the 42-year-old local tandem pilot and a 43-year-old Austrian started a flight in Gerlos near the Stuanmandlbahn. For reasons that have not yet been clarified, the start did not succeed

Impact on hilltop
After starting up, the pilot landed hard on a hilltop and sustained a serious leg injury. The passenger was slightly injured in the hip area. The umbrella got caught in the pine belt below the launch site. The helicopter helicopter, Heli 4, rescued the injured pilot. He was flown to Schwaz hospital for further treatment.
