Two models affected – Tesla recalls 475,000 of its vehicles

The US electric car maker Tesla is recalling almost half a million Model 3 and Model S vehicles in the US. Because of problems with the reversing camera, 356,309 Model 3s are ordered into the workshops, according to a document from the US Vehicle Safety Authority (NHTSA). The wiring harness of the reversing camera could be damaged by using the trunk lid and the camera could fail. All Model 3s from model years 2017 to 2020 would therefore be recalled.

In addition, 119.009 Model S are being recalled due to incorrect assembly of the front trunk (Frunk). This could suddenly open up and obstruct the driver’s view. Virtually all vehicles produced in 2020 affected The number of cars that have now been recalled corresponds roughly to the number of all vehicles delivered by Tesla worldwide in 2020. Tesla had recently made whopping profits in the billions and also had sales rise sharply. The group of star entrepreneur Elon Musk is currently building its first European factory in Germany near Berlin. For the electric car manufacturer, who has already come into conflict with the NHTSA on several occasions, the recall is a major setback. On Wall Street, the stock fell 1.3 percent.
