Two new electric vehicles – Kia brings an electric successor to the Stinger

Kia gave a broader public a look into the future at the CES electronics trade fair. The compact SUV EV3 and the four-door coupé sedan EV4 – the electric successor to the Stinger sports sedan – were shown.

Both electrically powered concept cars, both close to the series – one more, the other less. However, the Koreans are still keeping a low profile with information. What is clear is that Kia is mercilessly following through on the design language with which the large SUV Kia EV9 stands out, thereby marking an unmissable place in the car world. The EV3 has roughly the same format as the Kia Niro. The concept car has no door handles and exterior mirrors that are a bit too small, but otherwise it is probably pretty much finished. The C-pillar makes the roof virtually float. In contrast to the EV9, the black insert runs horizontally into the rear window and tail lights. Stromer instead of StingerThe EV4 is less expected than the EV3 and is a real cracker. The front with the huge clamshell hood slopes steeply towards the asphalt. Nevertheless, there is said to be a frunk underneath. The body of the Stinger successor is dynamically stretched, with sharp, embossed edges; the rear fenders appear powerfully shaped. The hatchback with the long, flat window ends in an integrated spoiler lip. Interior and technology still open. The interior is similar in both and is not yet ready for series production, but the continuous screen will remain in one form or another, as in the other Kia models. Both models are based on the well-known E-GMP platform and have either two- or four-wheel drive. It is not yet clear whether both will get the 800-volt system. In contrast to previous models, the single-engine variants could have the front wheels driven. At least with the EV3. It will be presented as a series model this year. Then we’ll know more.
