(Reuters) – Two Reuters journalists were injured and their driver killed on Friday when their vehicle came under fire while traveling to Sievierodonetsk, where fighting between the Ukrainian and Russian armies is raging.

Photographer Alexander Ermoshenko and cameraman Pavel Klimov were traveling in a car provided by pro-Russian separatist forces on a road between Sievierodonetsk and Rubizhne, north of the city, in territory controlled by the Russian army.

Alexander Ermoshenko was treated in a hospital in Roubizhné after being hit by shrapnel, while Pavel Klimov suffered a broken arm.

Reuters, which could not establish the identity of the driver provided by the separatists, “offers its condolences to his family”, said a spokesman in a press release.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense was not immediately available to provide details on this incident.
