Two slightly injured – tram derailed after collision with bus

A bus and a tram collided in the Floridsdorf district of Vienna on Monday. The rail vehicle then derailed. The bus driver and an inmate of the tram were slightly injured.

The 31 tram was on its way towards Stammersdorf at around 5:30 p.m. As a spokeswoman for Wiener Linien announced, the bus driver could have overlooked the priority of the tram in the Franz-Jonas-Platz area. The injured public transport user (49) suffered bruises and was taken to the hospital, according to the Viennese professional rescue service. Due to the accident, lines 25, 28A and 29A in Floridsdorf only stopped in the Schloßhofer Straße S-Bahn underpass. Line 30 was discontinued, line 31 did not run between Friedrich-Engels-Platz and Floridsdorfer Markt for the time being. About 90 minutes after the accident, Wiener Linien reported that all affected buses and pumice trains had resumed operations.
