two very promising games to try for free

During its latest Indie World event, Big N announced two new Nintendo Switch games for 2024. You can test them for free right now.

The last Nintendo Indie World was the scene of many announcements, but in the end, it was immense disappointment that predominated. While millions of players hoped until the end for news of Hollow Knight Silksong, the live ended with Steamworld Heist 2. The license may be well known, it really (really) wasn’t the “one more thing” expected by everyone. Despite everything, there were some nice surprises with some nice promises. And some can be discovered without further delay on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Two new games to test on Nintendo Switch

Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes, the latest episode of the J-RPG license, is playable for free on Nintendo Switch until April 18, 2023. Even before its release on April 23. But to play it, you must subscribe to the NSO subscription which provides many other advantages. If you don’t want to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, there are still other ways to play for free. During its Indie World on April 17, 2024, Big N once again lifted the veil on two independent titles: Europa and Antonblast. And the good news is that the two software have put a demo online accessible to all users without exception.

Europe

The one that will probably catch the eye of Nintendo Switch players is Europa. An indie game that seems to both borrow things from Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Studio Ghibli productions. We can indeed see similarities in terms of gameplay, the world to navigate and especially in terms of artistic direction. Here, no para-sail, but a Zephyr jetpack to facilitate travel and fly freely in the sky. Like its model, Europa promises exploration in very colorful environments as well as puzzles. This title designed by a passionate developer, outside of his working hours, will tell “a profound story about humanity’s growth and relationship with nature”. The Europa demo is available on Nintendo Switch via the eShop.

Antonblast

The second Nintendo Switch game to try for free is Antonblast. A completely different delirium which aims to be an action and platform title “explosive with a fast pace”. And the trailer clearly doesn’t lie about the product which will be released on November 12, 2024 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The goal ? Rush through pixel art environments at full speed, destroying everything you can with your Sacred Hammer. You don’t have time to think or wonder, because the game won’t wait for you.

“Play as the furious Anton Dynamite (or his colleague Annie) and use your Holy Hammer to demolish crazy worlds, face screen-filling bosses and take your souls back from Satan! » (via Antonblast page). It looks fun, but at first glance, the artistic direction could be a problem in terms of readability of the action. To find out, don’t hesitate to download the Nintendo Switch demo.
