Did you know that within Microsoft Edge, it has recently been possible to display two tabs side by side within the same window? Well, yes, and soon, this tool will even be more practical!

Teasing minds will point out that this functionality has been offered within the Vivaldi browser for years…

A productivity must-have in Edge

The months fly by, and so do the Microsoft Edge updates. If the features added to the browser are not always unanimous, some are however truly welcome. This is particularly the case with Split Screen. Or screen splitting, in the language of Molière.

Offered last February to all users, this tool allows you to choose two web pages to display them next to each other in the same window. Enough to quickly gain productivity without having to open two windows and put them next to each other. To do this, simply click on the button at the top right of the interface, or press the combination Ctrl + Shift + 2. Until now, this dual display was only done vertically. But not for long.

A new horizon(tal)

In the latest Canary build of Microsoft Edge, it is now possible to stack these web pages on top of each other rather than left and right. This horizontal rather than vertical display could be particularly useful for displaying the content of large web pages. The “…” button also allows in this beta version, in addition to inverting the position of the pages like today, to change the pages displayed on the fly from its open tabs.

In addition, subsequently, this button will also allow you to choose between opening the links in the active tab or in the second. In short, it appears clear that Microsoft is certainly thinking about the comfort and productivity of Edge users, drawing inspiration in particular from what the competition is doing. The firm also reminds that it is possible to drag and drop a link from the left window to the right window to open the corresponding page, or that the space occupied by the two windows can be modified with the central bar .
