Typhoon Hinnamnor causes major damage in South Korea

SEOUL (Reuters) – A powerful typhoon swept through South Korea on Tuesday, killing at least two people, 10 missing and hundreds displaced, authorities said.

Hinnamnor hit the industrial cities of Pohang, Gyeongju and Ulsan in the southeast of the country, in particular, accompanied by strong winds and torrential rains.

Some 2,900 people were evacuated, mainly in the south of the country, and more than 66,000 homes suffered power cuts.

The typhoon also led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights, the suspension of commercial activities and the closure of schools.

Hinnamnor then took the direction of the northeast, in the Sea of ​​Japan, and should touch in the evening the city of Sapporo, on the island of Hokkaido in the northeast of the Japanese archipelago.
