Fan favorite Peter Dinklage from “Game of Thrones” hasn’t seen “House of the Dragon” yet – but he’s in good company.

With “House of the Dragon” an extremely successful offshoot of the series phenomenon “Game of Thrones” was released last year. The prequel series about the collapse of the powerful House of Targaryen was able to gather a loyal fan base around the world. Ironically, one of the biggest favorites from “Game of Thrones” has not yet been able to bring himself to return to Westeros as a spectator: In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” Tyrion actor Peter Dinklage (53) revealed that he is currently on a “dragon break”.

He justifies the fact that he “hasn’t seen the HBO series yet” with the eight seasons he spent in the fantasy world: “I did the series for a really long time and watched a lot of other things.” At the same time, however, he asserted: “I definitely intend to [sie anzusehen]. I heard she’s supposed to be really good.” Dinklage is one of the few cast members to be part of Game of Thrones from start to finish.

Series evening with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Emilia Clarke?

By the way, with his previous “House of the Dragon” abstinence, Dinklage is in good company. Because his “GoT” brother Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (52) had recently admitted that he had not yet seen the spin-off. “One day it started and I saw the opening credits. And it was a bit strange because it was the same music,” he explained in April 2023 also to “Entertainment Weekly”. “I thought, ‘Ah, that’s too soon, too soon.'” However, the actor who played Jaime Lannister does not believe that he will avoid the prequel completely in the future. “I’ll wait. I’ll wait a few seasons and then I can watch it […].”

Emilia Clarke (36), who mimed the character Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones”, had a very similar explanation earlier this year for not having seen “House of the Dragon” herself. It still feels “too strange” at least for the moment she revealed to “Variety” in an interview. “It’s like someone asking you, ‘You want to go to that class reunion that’s not from your grade? You want to go there?’ That’s how it feels to me, so I avoid it.”

According to the pay-TV broadcaster Sky, which owns the broadcasting rights for “House of the Dragon” in this country, the shooting of the new episodes started in the British Leavesden Studios on April 11th. Season two will reportedly consist of eight episodes, two fewer than the premiere season, and is not expected to start until 2024. Maybe the Lannister brothers and Khaleesi can then bring themselves to binge-watch together.
